With over four million followers on Instagram, it is no surprise that Kim Kardashian’s BFF and “go-to” makeup artist for the last 10 years – Mario Dedivanovic – attracts huge crowds to his Master Classes. The man responsible for the contouring craze and the nude lip has a passionate fan base that travels, sometimes thousands of miles, to learn how to master his red-carpet, picture-perfect makeup techniques.
Recently, Swissline had the pleasure of participating in Mario Dedivanovic’s Master Class in London, where our Essence Masks were given to the attendees. As we intently watched the perfectionist at work and hung on his every word, we picked up some great makeup tips that we wanted to share with you, along with some skincare tips of our own.
If you have large pores, sometimes “baking it” helps. Baking refers to letting translucent powder sit on your face for five to 10 minutes, which allows the heat from your face to set your base foundation and concealer, and then dusting it off your face, leaving you with a creaseless, flawless finish.
Cream foundations set nicely with powder. Use a shade slightly darker than normal skin tone for a warm glow. Make sure to put a little foundation on your neck and ears, as well.
If you have deep-set smile lines, use as little makeup in that area as possible, work around it.
Smile when applying blush. It should go high up on the cheek and into the corner of the eye. Favourite shades: peaches and pinks.
With contouring, it is more important to know when not to contour, than how to contour. It should, however, be specific for everyone’s face. If you have a short forehead- no contour; a small chin – no contour. Contouring “pinches” the area, making it look smaller.
Add a drop of Aqua-Vitale Bloom Flash to your liquid foundation to make your skin glow.
If you have eye bags, less is more when it comes to concealer. It’s best to use liquid concealer; don’t pack with powder.
If your eyes tend to get watery when applying eye makeup, lift head up, keep your mouth open and breathe only through nose to “suck in” the tears.
If your eyebrows are thin, fill-in with powder.
If you have small eyelids, keep eye liner as thin as possible.
Always apply mascara last because powder can get on lashes making it look messy.
Take a couple of minutes to apply the Cellular Eye Mask Complex under the eyes to revitalize the entire eye contour area.
Nude lips are one of Mario’s signature statements and Kim loves it too, which is why they created the KKW x Mario palette. Mixing the nude-tone shade with the peachy shade is their absolute fave.
Prior to applying your lip liner and lipstick, plump and moisturize your lips with Lip Zone Corrective Complex.
